|Course for Beginners: With this basic course we start by learning the Greek alphabet, its writing and pronunciation. |
Beginners 1. You learn to greet someone, to present yourself (what your name is, where you come from, where you live, what you do, what your family status is). You learn to order something in a cafe, to ask for directions and tell something about what you love. You will also be familiar with the numbers (0-20). You learn some basic daily language.
Grammar: definite / indefinite article, verbs in present tense, nouns (singular), possessive pronouns The method used in this course is based on the books “Milao Basiscursus Nieuwgrieks Tekstboek” and “Milao Basiscursus Nieuwgrieks Oefenboek”.
Beginners 2: Basic daily language. You learn to greet someone, introduce yourself (what your name is, from which country you come from, where you live, what you do, what languages you speak, what your family status is). You learn to ask someone all the aforementioned information (in a formal and informal way). You learn to ask and indicate the time and talk about your daily routines, activities (what do you do in a day), household work / tasks, transport, tickets / airline tickets in a travel agency and book a room in a hotel , describe a neighborhood or a city. You also learn how to propose an appointment with someone, (e.g. eating out, coffee, cinema, shopping etc.). Days / months. Numbers (20-100).

You learn how to order in a restaurant and more vocabulary for: shopping (buying fruit, vegetables, cheese, meat, fish, etc.), food and beverages, decorating a house, celebrating birthdays - name days, the weather, describing a person’s appearance, buying clothes and shoes, the colors, invite friends to a party, tell where you've been on holiday, talk about holidays (Christmas and Easter).
Grammar: future tense, diminutives, comparative forms, past tense, subjunctives, adverbs. The method used in this course is based on the books: “Milao Basiscursus Nieuwgrieks Tekstboek” and “Milao Basiscursus Nieuwgrieks Oefenboek”.
|Level A2 |
This level is about improving and further enriching the vocabulary. Speaking and listening exercises are frequently used, as well as role plays, to ensure that all acquired knowledge can be applied in practice. The lessons are mainly given in Greek.
Repetition of grammar and more advanced grammar topics are introduced, personal pronouns, more nouns and adjectives, passive tense, past tense (aoristos and paratatikos), future tense (simple future and continuous), conditional / conditional clauses.
The method used in this course is based on the exercise book: “Επικοινωνήστε Ελληνικά 2”.
|Level B1 |
The purpose of this level is to expand the vocabulary and grammar knowledge that you have already acquired, as described in the previous levels. Marriage, past and present habits, entertainment / fun, work, cooking, the weather, the environment, are some of the topics we will discuss in this course. The lessons are given in Greek.
Grammar: repetition of previously learned grammar, new adjectives, passive verbs present / past tense, past tense (paratatikos), repeating subjunctive and imperative.
The method used in this course is based on the book: “Καλειδοσκόπιο Επίπεδο Β1” or “Ελληνικά Β”.
This level extends your knowledge of the Greek language and your communication skills in Greek. You learn to further improve your vocabulary. Extensive discussions, listening and writing exercises. At this point, you are able to produce clear and detailed texts, to read small texts from newspapers and to give personal opinions. The course contains texts about politics, culture, economy and daily life, the environment, health, education, culture, art, literary texts, songs, etc. The lessons are given in Greek.
Grammar: Perfection of passive voice, completion of basic grammar education and further grammatical phenomena.

The method is then almost completed and the speaking, listening and reading skills are further refined with conversations about literature and video using real examples from current events.
Themes of the book: Marriage / family, gender equality, Politics, Work, education. Vocabulary for marriage and family relationships, wishes, proverbs, talking about the position of women in society. Describing past habits. Vocabulary for politics, labor relations - letter of recommendation - curriculum vitae - official letter - describe a political system and its problems. Vocabulary derived from the words: city, municipality, society.
The method used in this course: Καλειδοσκόπιο Επίπεδο Γ1
The method is then completed and the speaking, listening and reading skills are further refined with conversations about literature and video using real examples from current events. At this level you can understand what you hear or read, and also recognize indirect information from different sources; you can communicate spontaneously, easily and precisely, and you can develop arguments in a clear and structured speech about various issues arising from a source of spoken or written language. You can also use the Greek language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional needs.
Themes from the textbook: Education and education system, Language and communication (history of the Greek language, the language of the young, the catharevousa and the dialect). Economy (financial and banking terms), Language of the Media, Church and State: relevant vocabulary / ecclesiastical language.
